Another look at a BF family portrait...HOLD STILL!

Here is a study of the pictures taken at the direction of my son, Dan.
These come from larger photos and are enlargements of areas.  I decided to see if giving these pics a different exposure would show any more to other people, who have a difficult time seeing the subjects. A few people have said all they see is shadows, and nothing else. I hope this helps them see what others see in these pics.

Please tell me what you think.

People I have shown the originals to have either said all they see are shadows, they think this is a bear, or these are stumps. I can tell you, from studying these pictures, there is just too much movement between the two pictures to justify a stationary object like a stump.  Plus, the fact there are three subjects in question, puts it out of the realm of possibility of paredolia...simply from a statistical probability standpoint.
Just remember that these come from two pictures taken one after another. The results show some type of movement for each subject.

To me, the interesting one is the infant subject. You can see a difference between what looks like a cupped hand and then extended fingers between the two pictures.

Also, if you notice, what I will label as a juvenile, the full face-on subject, take a look at how the mouth changed from a straight line to curved or puckered. Also, in the original comparisons, it looks like the juvey moves from the front to the back, as if taking a step back into the shadows. Of course, this is my interpretation here.

And the "mother" moves her head from up to down in this sequence. Although the original picture sequence has her nodding down with the second picture, her head tilted more upright (which is the featured pic I show more often here).

Tree peeker

I was about to take this picture of the tree/stick structure at Salt Fork State Park, in Ohio (back in early October, 2012). As I was concentrating on the camera screen that I held up in front of my face, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a black object move and disappear behind a tree and a downed log (see the circles).  I took two pictures in succession.  When I got home and put this on my computer, and enlarged the photograph, in this particular area of shadows, a face appears, with different posturing in each of the pictures.

Alright...I fell subject to calling this a tree-peeker.
Actually, I don't know what this is, but it has some features of a face...a rather ugly one.

Could this be a juvenile BF?

Usually, I would consider this pareidolia, except for the fact that I took these two pictures within moments of each other, while standing in the same spot, and not moving myself, other than to push the trigger to take two pictures. This definitely shows the subject to have moved position, of what looks like the left side of the face.

I played with color "enhancing" just see if any features pop out at you.  Well, here it is, direct from Salt Fork State Park.

This is my rookie attempt at trying to make sense of the pictures I took. The subject is located in this picture where the circle is, and the rest of the pics were enlarged to check the blurry details.  (How's that for an oxymoron?)

The enlarged photos from the circled area. The second picture of the above is not included, but the enlargement from that photo is the second close up below:

First, I took this one

Then this one was taken

There seems to be a definite change in expression also.

Tell me what you think...

The Significance of Tree and branch structures

I have become a little inquisitive as to the significance (or not) of tree breaks, twisted and bent saplings, stacked branches, intertwined trees, branches and saplings.

While there appears to be similar type structures in other research areas, I wonder about them as common elements pointing towards possible Big Foot activity or presence.

I know that there is the possibility and potential that these structures could simply be from blown over trees, randomly falling limbs and falling trees, as well as humanly placed to mark trails for hunting, etc.  I also observed that many of these markings are very near game trails.  While this could be indicative of hunters marking their trails, many of the unusual tree breaks occur over 5 or 6 feet from the ground.  In most cases it appears as though these tree breaks could simply occur as a result of attempts to bend them or create archways, such as ones I have found that identify portions of game trails.

I have asked all the hunters I have run across in these woods, as well as friends of mine if they know of anybody that marks trails, game trails, and such.  Not one of them acknowledged anybody they knew who did this or admitted that they did themselves.  But it remains a possibility, I guess.

In other instances, I have noticed smaller, yet similar, type branch structures at the entrances of what could appear to be pathways into the woods.  In some instances, these pathways are actually caused by water erosion, yet others seem to be game or animal trails.  The animal trails are the ones that seem to not have these markers.  Some have told me (and I don't know how they would know this) that the trail markers, or stick structures indicate a warning or a no trespassing type of communication.

Here is a video of my observation in a relatively small area where there is a concentration of these stick structures.  I have not noticed other areas that had such high concentration of these structures.  Please refer to my previous post that showcased the area I am observing.

Below, is another picture of a stick structure taken at Salt Fork State Park, in an area called "Bigfoot Ridge"
Notice the similarities between what I had found in Maryland, and these structures in Ohio.
Salt Fork stick structure

Salt Fork stick structure
This particular structure (second picture) was photographed near the location that I took a picture that showed a possible subject.  In particular, I do not remember this structure being there the day before, as I remember leaning against this group of trees.  The next day, I noticed this structure of branches that appeared...almost as a notice to me...of what, I do not know.  While taking two pictures of this structure, just as I was looking at the back of my camera, I noticed movement in the upper left hand portion of this picture. It had already moved before the picture was taken.  As I zoomed in on this area in the picture, I noticed a face hidden between some logs.  The next picture shows a face also, but in a different position, showing that the subject had moved.
If you take a look at these two pics, you will notice a difference between them.

There is another researcher who took a picture of another subject that seemed to be hiding in a similar type place, between some logs and a tree, like this one. But the subject was at another location, within this same forest.  Our two pictures seem to corroborate the existence of this subject.  What is it?

Other YouTube videos that consider the phenomenon of these stick structures are listed below:

Breaking news! DNA confirms Bigfoot exists!

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

‘BIGFOOT’ DNA SEQUENCED IN UPCOMING GENETICS STUDY
Five-Year Genome Study Yields Evidence of Homo sapiens/Unknown Hominin Hybrid Species in North America

Contact: Robin Lynne, media@dnadiagnostics.com, 231.622.5362

DALLAS, Nov. 24--A team of scientists can verify that their 5-year long DNA study, currently under peer-review, confirms the existence of a novel hominin hybrid species, commonly called “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch,” living in North America. Researchers’ extensive DNA sequencing suggests that the legendary Sasquatch is a human relative that arose approximately 15,000 years ago as a hybrid cross of modern Homo sapiens with an unknown primate species.

The study was conducted by a team of experts in genetics, forensics, imaging and pathology, led by Dr. Melba S. Ketchum of Nacogdoches, TX. In response to recent interest in the study, Dr. Ketchum can confirm that her team has sequenced 3 complete Sasquatch nuclear genomes and determined the species is a human hybrid:

“Our study has sequenced 20 whole mitochondrial genomes and utilized next generation sequencing to obtain 3 whole nuclear genomes from purported Sasquatch samples. The genome sequencing shows that Sasquatch mtDNA is identical to modern Homo sapiens, but Sasquatch nuDNA is a novel, unknown hominin related to Homo sapiens and other primate species. Our data indicate that the North American Sasquatch is a hybrid species, the result of males of an unknown hominin species crossing with female Homo sapiens.

Hominins are members of the taxonomic grouping Hominini, which includes all members of the genus Homo. Genetic testing has already ruled out Homo neanderthalis and the Denisova hominin as contributors to Sasquatch mtDNA or nuDNA. “The male progenitor that contributed the unknown sequence to this hybrid is unique as its DNA is more distantly removed from humans than other recently discovered hominins like the Denisovan individual,” explains Ketchum.

“Sasquatch nuclear DNA is incredibly novel and not at all what we had expected. While it has human nuclear DNA within its genome, there are also distinctly non-human, non-archaic hominin, and non-ape sequences. We describe it as a mosaic of human and novel non-human sequence. Further study is needed and is ongoing to better characterize and understand Sasquatch nuclear DNA.”

Ketchum is a veterinarian whose professional experience includes 27 years of research in genetics, including forensics. Early in her career she also practiced veterinary medicine, and she has previously been published as a participant in mapping the equine genome. She began testing the DNA of purported Sasquatch hair samples 5 years ago.

Ketchum calls on public officials and law enforcement to immediately recognize the Sasquatch as an indigenous people:

“Genetically, the Sasquatch are a human hybrid with unambiguously modern human maternal ancestry. Government at all levels must recognize them as an indigenous people and immediately protect their human and Constitutional rights against those who would see in their physical and cultural differences a ‘license’ to hunt, trap, or kill them.”

Full details of the study will be presented in the near future when the study manuscript publishes.

West Virginia approves a one day Bigfoot bagging???

  1. There is something inherently wrong about this. Yes, this could be a snipe hunt...but what if...
Go ahead and giggle about my fascination about this. But suppose this is found to be part human, if found? The ethical and moral question of th
is is quite disturbing. Why would the WVa legislators allow this? Would our Md legislators tolerate this even if they thought it was funny to do, even if they officially considered the big guy to be mythical? What if...(and there are some who KNOW better).

I used to wonder about my stance on the killing theory. But since we are now faced with an actual open season, albeit one day, and with mounting visual evidence of the existence of the species, this comes as quite disturbing. Perhaps the WVa legislators and gaming/hunting authorities should be called out on this.

Updated video coming

Took a little walk in the area I have been looking around in. I couldn't go too far off the path since it is deer season and I noticed a hunter's blind or two set up, and I wouldn't want to be mistaken for a deer!  Anyway, look for my new video by the weekend. I think I may have seen a few more stick structures that are trail markers, plus did I find tracks??? I have some editing to do to put it in watchable format. Stay tuned!

Question on stick structures

Do any of my readers have any information, theories, documentation or evidence of stick structures (other than obvious tee pee type structures) being found or suggesting Bigfoot activity?
I have noticed a trend or similarities in claims of stick structures and log placements as suggestions of possible BF activity, but these are only observations. Have there actually been any studies done or videos made about the types and nuances of these things?

Stuff they don't want you to know-Sasquatch

This is a video that pretty much sums up the world of bigfootery.  For those people who are new to it, there is a lot in this and the theories have been discussed ad nauseum.  It is time for researchers and searchers to observe and provide more clear evidence of this creature.

Partnering with hunters

Subtitle: Why don't trail cameras pick up pics of the big fella?

In the parking area where I am contemplating setting up a research area, I have run into a few deer (bow) hunters. I typically ask them if they see anything unusual, ANYTHING...please give me a call as I am doing some wildlife research. When they ask what type of "unusual" I am talking about, I mention weird animals, large, small, tracks, footprints, stick structures, rock structures, all of which they may feel looks out of the ordinary. And I give them my business card.  They see I am carrying a camera and a mono pod, and I tell them I am recording and documenting the area.

A few of the hunters I have come across, in the parking lot, are retired Baltimore City and County police officers and investigators.  Oddly enough, they don't look at me funny, and have sent me to check out a few tree bends they thought were weird. I did not mention tree bends to them, specifically, although I later acknowledged that is the type of things I am looking for. I also ask them if they know if hunters may mark trails by bending these trees. None of them have known of anyone to do this, but acknowledged the possibility. I also asked if they run into anyone else like myself who may be documenting the area. They have not seen or come across anyone else other than party people who like to stay on trail down to the water to sit and fish or drink (or both).

I ran across one particular hunter who was a little anti-social and pretty gruff, but questioned me to the hilt on why I was there.  Likewise, I was able to question him about his experience. He said he has been hunting these woods for 15 years and has hundreds of hours of trail camera tapes, and hasn't seen anything unusual on these tapes.  This guy was good at getting info out of me, and was able to get me to sheepishly admit I was looking for signs of possible Sasquatch sightings. He grinned and chortled and asked me what I have found. I told him that there were some reports of sightings in this area, and I was just looking for possible evidence. But I haven't seen anything fresh.  I told him that other than possible old signs, my experience has simply been a nice walk in the woods, complete with pictures and video.

At this point, I had been exploring one side of the trail, on the opposite side of where his trail cams were. The hunter appeared to get agitated and his answers to my questions got shorter and delivered with curtness. His only acknowledgment of the sanity of what I was doing came as a comment that he would have thought he would have seen something on his trail cameras over the years if these things truly existed.

It got me to thinking about how to answer a skeptic with experience with trail cameras.  Joe Black/Scott Carpenter (Lord knows why he uses his alias then acknowledges his real name...) posted a video about the possibility of Bigfoot being able to see infrared light, as captured on his night vision camera.  He poses an interesting theory, and the video is posted below.  Tell me what you think on how to discretely discuss this with a "non-acknowledger" or non-believer.

I understand that a few people will be aghast at my efforts to seek assistance from hunters, fearing a "kill" upon the chance of an encounter by one of them.  But I know of no other way to find more sets of eyes in the woods.  Hunters are looking for movement in the woods, and usually don't shoot until they are sure of their target.  I know that there are hunters who indiscriminately shoot at anything that moves, but I believe they are few and far between.  Besides, I am usually engaging in a conversation to find out what these guys do before I solicit their eyes in the woods.  Its all part of qualifying them.  So far, the police and law enforcement guys seem to be willing to help out.  I guess I just have to do a better job at qualifying who I give information to, the extent of that information and who to ask for assistance in keeping an eye out for anything unusual...ANYTHING.

Giants of the bible a link to Sasquatch?

Admittedly, I am NO expert here. And I am allowing my imagination to run wild on this thought (having been exercised through a brainstorming session).  But is it possible (I cannot comment on plausible) that the giants of the Bible and throughout the ancient world were somehow related to our Sasquatch of today?

Here is a video that may make you think about this, and provides photographic concepts (I won't say proof) that the bones people are talking about may have already been discovered.  Keep an open mind about it to consider the possibility:

Please note that no reference to Sasquatch has been made in this video, or any other ones I have viewed (so far) on the Nephilim.  Perhaps the possibility of the link should be discussed at some point.

Vision in the woods, un-focused

As humans, we tend to concentrate on the task at hand. Our entire concentration is usually spent on tasks that we focus in on.  Rarely do we consider it beneficial to sit back and "take it all in" visually.  I am not a touch typist. I have to look down at the keys and type my way into significance on a computer.  Some people can do this., but they still visually look at the screen when they type. The point is that we are usually so focused in on what we are doing that sometimes we don't notice the dog that enters the room, or the person who comes in "our space" because we are just too focused to notice.

When I am in the woods, I found myself using this tendency to focus on particular subjects or areas. I look at a spot, a tree, a structure, a rock formation. But do I "see" it as it relates to the rest of the area around it? I often wondered how the animals of the woods were so keen at recognizing danger and warning signs around them.  I sometimes thought what a pitiful existence to worry all the time about being threatened or being eaten. NOT a way to live for sure!  But, I got to thinking...what if it was just a matter of how the creatures of the woods see things?  What if the ability to focus is universal, but mostly used or overused by us humans?  Then I began to wonder about how I would be able to see as forest creatures see; with eyes wide open, seeing from peripheral point to the other peripheral point in my line of vision.  And so I began an experiment in vision.  I found that if I truly wanted to, I could see the edges of my vision at the same time, losing the ability to focus at a particular time. I held my fingers up on either side of my head to see if I could actually see both hands at the same time.  I was amazed at the clarity and field of vision I suddenly had as it pertained to the environment around me.  And I was actually able to see MORE detail when I did this!  It was time to see what this effect had on my vision while out in the field of research.

So, I sat in the woods and UN-FOCUSED. I tried to relax my vision so I could see both side of me. I was/am amazed at the clarity I had/have when I do this.  So, I sat in the woods and took it all in.  Is this what the creatures of the woods, the big fella, in particular, sees?  I can understand why animals may be able to respond so quickly when we come into their field of vision.  It maybe why we are not able to "sneak up" on a Sasquatch, and why they are so much more strategically smarter as us.  Maybe they are not necessarily smarter than us, but have a wider awareness in their vision.  I have experimented with people around me by asking them to try their hand at expanding their vision.  While some are not able to do this, others are intensely amazed at the awareness they have when they do the simple exercise mentioned above.  Another thing happens, and maybe because it is so unique, but my memory of what I saw becomes greater when I expand my vision and un-focus.

Next time you're in the woods and sitting there, try un-focusing and take in the area around you. You will be amazed that you can see movement all around you.  But don't be discouraged if you can't do this, perhaps you are trying too hard, and too used to focusing in on one subject.  Try un-focusing and you'll be amazed at what you can and do see, and the details you will remember!
I believe that smiling is good for the soul.
And this video from the folks at Bad Lip Reading made me smile as it related to the big guy!
ENJOY!

Establishing the Bigfoot research area

If anything, I think I have stumbled upon an area that has older evidence of possible activity.  We did not see any footprints, or other animal prints for that matter.
I am not sure of the significance of tree structures as we saw them.
I am not sure of the significance of bent over and arched saplings.
These things are only suspect in my mind.
However, since other researchers have indicated these type of things as potential evidence (circumstantial, at best) of BF activity, I have produced this video of an area we are investigating.
There have been sightings reported not far from this area, and I have decided, for the simple purpose of ease of access and for practice sake, I would explore this area.  It surrounds a reservoir that supplies water to Baltimore City.  Several farms surround this area which is very rural.
Tell me what you think.

It looks a lot better if you switch to full screen.

Daytime sighting on Route 17 near Church View

YEAR: 1978
SEASON: Summer
MONTH: August
STATE: Virginia
LOCATION DETAILS: The sighting occurred just north of a crest in the road, where you could not see the trough until you had actually gotten on top of the crest. The road rose again, but not quite as steep as it was going downhill. The sighting took place on the downside of the hill, almost towards the bottom.
NEAREST TOWN: Either Jamaica or Church View
NEAREST ROAD: Rt 17
OBSERVED: This incident has been bothering me for 25 years. And I'm glad I found your sight a few years ago.

In 1978, my girlfriend (now my wife) and I were driving back from Virginia Beach back to Baltimore on Route 17. As I was driving over one hill, I noticed a dead animal in the road, on the slower lane about a half a mile ahead. It appeared to be a large dead dog.

As I approached it, I had to change lanes and started to notice a smell that reminded me of muck we use to pull out of the creek near where I grew up. The odor got stronger and I thought it was an unusual smell for a dead animal, which now appeared to be the size and color of a german shephard.

As I drove around the animal, I watched it so I would not accidentally hit it as I went by (it straddled the lane markers a bit). I also noticed out of the corner of my eye, what I thought was a little old black man, crouching in the woods behind a leafy branch, waiting for me to pass by.

The edge of the woods was about 10 yards away, although I can't be sure of the exact distance. My immediate thought was that he was coming out to get his poor dog that got run over. So I curiously watched him in my rear view mirror. What I saw surpirised me.

Since the car had a loose rear view mirror, I held it as still as I could to see the action. The figure came out of the woods, certainly bigger than I had thought it would have been. But what amazed me was that it reached the middle of the road in three strides. It looked down at the dead animal just as another car was coming over the crest behind me.

It stood in a crouch, with its hands well below its knees, sort of in a monkey like position. It appeared startled as it jerked its head looking towards the oncoming car, I saw what looked like two long furry ears (possibly dread-lock type hair) swing around, following its head. My first impression was that it looked like one of those old aviator hats with the long "ear pieces" but with hair.

As soon as it was startled by the other car, it turned and took another two and a half steps back into the woods. What amazed me was the length of the stride.

My then-girlfriend asked me what was the matter. She said I looked like I saw a ghost. For some reason, I reacted like I just saw something I couldn't explain, and started to to get physically shaken.

We stopped a few minutes later at a roadside store in Jamaica, VA and bought a soda to sooth my nerves. That's when I realized that I might have seen an animal and not a man. To this day, I can not tell you exactly what I saw. But it was definitely NOT what I originally thought it was.

The combination of the rancid odor, the long quick strides it took, the "floppy" ears, the size (certainly bigger than an old man), and its color (black/dark brown) now makes me wonder if I saw a sasquatch.

Now, in looking at the map, I notice that that part of Rt 17 goes through a swampy, desolate area.
ALSO NOTICED: Dead animal carcass in the road
OTHER WITNESSES: My girl-friend, now my wife was in the car. At that time, she was oblivious to many things that went on around her (that's why I married her ;) lol!). To this day, she says she does not remember the incident.
OTHER STORIES: no, although I keep track of any other reports from Virginia around the same time and area.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Just moments before dusk. Clear day, typical hot-sticky weather for Virginia in August, occassional cloud covering the sun.
ENVIRONMENT: Forest on either side for miles. The highway is divided with a large median between sides. No other noticeable landmarks. Although, my map shows a nearby swamp called Dragon Swamp that parallels the highway

Follow-up investigation report:
Upon further investigation, the witness added the following:

Question:

You said the incident occurred over 25 years ago, and that you found our site a few years back. Why have you waited until now to submit your report?

Response:

I actually submitted it a few years ago, and hadn't heard from anyone. It was at a time when the website was going through some changes (about 2 generations ago), so I assumed my report took a back seat. I just waited until now to resubmit it. Also, I was waiting to see if anyone else had submitted a report for the same area or county or surrounding counties.

I had told my kids about the "encounter" and always made great pains not to embellish the story, and to leave the decision of what I saw up to the imagination of the listener. I did make it a point to not mention what I thought it was. I always said, "I don't know what exactly it was I saw, but I can tell you what happened. You decide."

Question:

'Best guess' - how much time elapsed from the beginning to end of your encounter?

Response:

Maybe 15-20 seconds, possibly up to a minute if you include driving over the rise, noticing the dead animal, to seeing the subject run into the woods.

Question:

What made you classify the creature hiding in the bushes as ' a little old black man'? I.e. what facial features did you see? Did it look humanoid, and if so, what characteristics made it appear human?

Response:

As I was passing by, I only saw the subject out of the corner of my eye, and did not get a head-on look at it. Please remember that my focus was on avoiding hitting the road kill, and that my eyes were definitely diverted away from the road in front of me for a split second.

It was in this split second that this figure caught my attention, enough to look back in my rear view mirror. As I passed it, I did not catch any facial features, only that it had a dark complexion (not Caucasian).

I thought it was a bit odd, and in that split second, wondered why someone would be just inside the edge of the woods as most of us would be just OUTSIDE the edge of the woods if we were waiting to get a peek at something in the road.

This is what raised my curiosity to look in the rear view mirror to see if anything had changed and to see if the subject had approached the animal. I was given the distinct, split second impression that he/it was hiding at the edge of the woods, waiting for me to go by. I cannot explain what gave me that impression.

Question:

Please estimate the creature's height in feet, approximate weight, shape of head.

Response:

As I had no frame of reference in my rear view mirror, I can not give you any estimate as to the exact size. However, I remember having the distinct impression that what I was looking at in my rear view mirror was not what I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye a few moments earlier.

I do remember thinking that this subject was bigger than I had instinctively thought. And what really did catch my attention was the size of its gait. The impression I had out of the corner of my eye was that, whatever or whomever it was was in a squatting position. I would say that I had the impression that it was bigger than I was at the time (I was 6'3" and about 225 then).

Honestly, I am having trouble remembering the shape of the head. I think it was about the same shape as a human, but the dreadlocks, or ears (whatever it was) really set what I saw apart from what I was expecting to see.

Also, as the road was taking a slight bend to the left, up a slight incline, I was not concentrating on the figure but on the road again, and all I was able to make out was more of a silhouette at this point.

Question:

You said the creature resembled a monkey while standing in the street. Would you classify this animal then as more ape-like than human?

Response:

What I meant by ape-like was that it briefly stood, hunched over the road kill, with its fingertips cupped, extending slightly below the knees, in a stance unlike us normal humans. The knees were bent slightly.

Please remember that what I saw at this point was more like a silhouette. The lighting, combined with the vibrating rear view mirror did not allow me to get a good look at any distinct features.

Question:

When the animal looked in the direction of the oncoming car, did it turn just its head or entire upper torso?

Response:

It turned its head then its torso as it ran off. It must have been looking down at the road kill, and must have seen the lights of the oncoming car out of the corner of its eye. The car obviously got its full attention away from the road kill. By the way, it really was not dark or dusk enough to have lights on. But for some reason, that particular driver had them on.

Question:

Estimate the distance in feet for each stride.

Response:

It would have had to been 4-6 feet per stride in order to get back into the woods with 3-4 strides. I have the lasting impression that its stride was not by "stretching" or extending it normal "let's get out of here" gait, but was rather natural and effortless/smooth/normal.

Again, I remember thinking or wondering how in the world whatever I saw could only have taken such few steps to get back to the edge of the woods. It was this thought that shook me up, then thinking I had just seen something very unusual. It was at this time I remember being mentally shaken, and my wife (then girlfriend) telling me that I looked like I had just seen a ghost.

Question:

If you can think of any more information, please don't hesitate to add it. Even very minor details you might think are irrelevant may afford valuable data to our scientists.

Response:

The only thing that was noticeable was the swamp like stench that permeated the area. It reminded me like the times, as a kid, when we would get stuck in the muck at the edge of a creek, and the smell of the muck was definitely distinctive on our shoes/sneakers. I do not remember the smell lingering after I had passed the area in question.

Even now, I still can not legitimately say I saw a Bigfoot
animal/whatever. I can only report on what I saw. I know enough not to draw conclusions based on a viewing through a shaky rear view mirror in a car moving away from the subject. Again, I just wanted to at least give a report of a "POSSIBLE" sighting. I am making no claims as to the exact identity of the subject.

For all I know, it could have been a big black guy, wearing a hairy aviator cap (dreadlocks weren't in vogue then), who could run at a fast pace with huge strides, and who didn't have the best posture in the world. In addition, perhaps this report may draw out others who could give you a more definitive experience.

I just hope I'm not wasting your time. But the experience has
stayed with me through the years. I just started retelling the story as my son had been in scouts and made for a good campfire story. But please remember that I took great pains not to embellish the experience.

The beginning of this blog

Even though I had a personal experience in 1978, I maintained a somewhat distant interest in the possibility of the existence of Bigfoot.  (I will explain my experience in a later post).  But since the airing of the Finding Bigfoot TV show, my curiosity was piqued again.  The fact that I was recovering from knee surgery and subsequent therapies, gave me time to busy myself in furthering my armchair research and interest.  I searched through numerous blogs, websites and YouTube videos for hints and ideas on how to look for evidence of the big guy.  I subscribed to several facebook friends, researchers and organizations in order to determine patterns of evidence and to see what other people thought. I was amazed that there actually were people who go out into the woods and conduct evidence research in  various parts of the country. I was aware of the BFRO for a number of years, but only thought of them as a reactionary organization, and had no idea of the depth or extensiveness of their activities.  I stumbled upon people and bloggers like Facebook/Finding Bigfoot, Candy Sasquatch Canada, and others who keep up with the current world of Bigfoot reports and sightings.  I became amazed at the willingness to publicly discuss the possibility of Bigfoot. And I became a fan, a follower, a groupie, if you will.

From September 3-5, 2012, my wife, my son and I decided to spend a few days at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio after our daughter's wedding in Madison, Ohio.  Salt Fork is about a 6 hour drive for us, and I would love to visit it more often, but the distance prohibits us from frequenting one of the "squatchiest" places in the country. On Sept 4, my son, Dan (who is gifted with down syndrome) and I went for a hike in the woods.  The only way I could get him out of the hotel room and to keep him from watching TV is to say we were going to look for Bigfoot.  He thought it was a neat idea and jumped at the chance.

After communicating with the local Bigfoot authority, Doug Waller, I was able to discern the best place to search for evidence.  Below is what we found:

And thus began our own personal search to verify what Dan saw.  I cannot verify with him, exactly, since he does not speak very well.  And sometimes his answers are lead by repeating what people say, rather than thinking for himself.  Some people who I showed this to recommended that I not divulge the location. Others suggested that i not publish it at all.  To be honest, I am not sure what this is. I know what I hope it is,  but I am not at all certain.  I am NOT looking for personal recognition (I have had plenty of that in my life), nor am I looking for publicity. However, as a pragmatic person, I believe that in order to get to the truth of such matters, one may have to stick his/her neck out a little and see if there is anyone else out there who he can commiserate with and share experiences with.  In addition, I believe in the biblical concept of having counselors in one's endeavors.  And I would hope that somehow, this blog will attract some knowledgeable and educated people to comment on possibilities.  Please  note that I am fully aware of the existence of BLOBS being submitted as proof of Sasquatch.  I would hope that what you see in my posts are NOT BolobSquatches, but something that is "interesting" at the least.
